An obituary for Adaline Hardegree, widow of John Hardegree, appeared in the Wills Point Chronicle on Dec 1912:
"'Grandma' Hardegree, who resided on the McKnight farm, died Saturday night of last week. Funeral services were
held Sunday afternoon at Union Grove cemetery. Grandma was in her 90th year and possessed a clear mind for
one of her age and with unusual strength. She enjoyed relating scenes of by-gone days, especially did she refer to
the coming of Halley's comet, which she first saw when a child and then again in recent years. We extend
sympathy to the relatives."
