As outlined in the book, Pleas A. Hardegree was murdered by Tom Tate.  In 2003 Bob and Doris Bowman
wrote a book, Historic Murders of East Texas, and devoted a chapter to the murder of Ples Hardegree and
the rampage of Tom Tate in Smith Co., TX.  Mr. Bowman has 3 books on East TX murders, but the book
with the chapter on Ples Hardegree is in his first book, identified as A2.  This link, www.bob-bowman.com,
will take you to the author's website.  Thanks to David Gode for informing me of this publication.  Mr. Gode
also maintains a page on Ples A. Hardegree on FindAGrave.com with his brief biography and a photo of his
